Bulk density is a commonly measured soil property that can indicate how compacted a soil is, and it can be used to calculate the percent pore space in the soil. Bulk density is the mass of soil solids + pores in a given volume of soil, and particle density is the mass of soil solids (sand, silt and clay particles and organic matter) in a certain volume of soil solids.”
