Your Guide to Advocating for Organic Food and Farming in the 2025 Election

The federal election is on April 28, 2025, and all hands are on deck to advocate for strong, resilient food systems rooted in organic agriculture.

Organic agriculture is part of the solution to many of Canada’s biggest challenges: from economic resilience, to environmental sustainability, food security, and human health.

Election campaigns are one of the best times to engage with candidates — they’re listening. This federal election campaign is a great opportunity to connect with your candidates and share why organic food and farming matter to you — and how government support can help grow the organic sector.

Over the next two weeks, we need your help to make sure every candidate hears how organic can help build a better future for Canada.

Organic Election Advocacy Guide

The Canadian Organic Alliance (COA) — made up of Canadian Organic Growers (COG), the Canada Organic Trade Association (COTA), and the Organic Federation of Canada (OFC) — has created an easy-to-use toolkit to support your engagement with candidates.

In the 2025 Election Organic Advocacy Guide, you will find:

  1. Briefing notes explaining why organic matters, policy solutions, and engagement strategies
  2. Template emails to send to your local candidates
  3. A slide deck from our national webinar on advocating for organic during the campaign
  4. Social media graphics to spread the word online and boost the visibility of organic issues

This guide includes tailored resources for both industry and consumer advocates, so you can communicate clearly from your unique perspective.
