Black Family Farm Tour

Join Manitoba Organic Alliance for a tour of Manitoba’s only Centennial Organic Farm with 3rd, 4th, and 5th generations working together.

Established in 1978, this family farm is operated by Larry & Sue, Dave & Ash. Originally a dairy, they have now tripled their crop acreage since selling the dairy in 2019. Once there we will be carpooling to visit different fields on the Black family farm to show that each field has a different field history, different crops, and different soil and weather conditions. Highlighting how the Blacks maintain good yield in an organic production system using Cover crops, green manure plow-down, Rapid Decomposition, Phosphorus availability, and nutrient cycling.

The tour will end back at the Black’s yard site for networking and lunch.
