A new digital resource hub for Canadian consumers delivers exceptional learning opportunities on the environmental, economic, health and social benefits of supporting sustainable and local agriculture.

Ottawa, ON (OCTOBER 19, 2023) – Today, Canadian Organic Growers (COG), Canada’s oldest organic regenerative association and educational charity supporting Canadian farmers and consumers, has launched the Organically Canadian Resource Hub – a new resource designed to raise Canadians’ understanding of the benefits of sustainable agriculture and how, as consumers, their choices make a difference. COG is receiving up to $374,450 in funding in support of the resource hub through Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada’s AgriCommunication Program. The federal AgriCommunication Program is an $8-million initiative over three years to contribute to better connecting Canadians with Canada’s farmers, and the vital role they play in our food system.

Many Canadians support bold action on climate change and feel that Canada should be a global leader in the effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. There is no doubt that Canadians are increasingly interested in sustainability, and as consumers Canadians want to invest their dollars into sustainable solutions. However, more than 70% of Canadian consumers feel that they lack the information needed to make more sustainable choices when shopping[1]. The Organically Canadian Resource Hub is the answer. Full of sustainable solutions for individuals and families looking to make a positive impact, this resource hub offers itself as an essential learning tool for conscious consumers looking to learn how to make more informed choices that benefit their health, the environment, and local economies.

COG’s Organically Canadian Resource Hub includes:

“Farmers across Canada work hard to provide sustainable, high-quality, nutritious food here at home, and around the world. This funding will create connections between the agriculture industry and Canadians, and help boost the appreciation and pride we all have for our Canadian farmers and food businesses,” said the Honourable Lawrence MacAulay, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food.

“Our Organically Canadian Resource Hub will help Canadians become more confident in choosing sustainable products, practices and brands by learning about sustainable agriculture,” said Karen Murchison, Executive Director at COG, “COG feels that Canadian consumers should be equipped with the tools to make informed decisions that positively impact their health and the environment, and that support local sustainable economies. Through this resource hub we aim to create a direct link between consumers and the farmers who grow our food. It’s more important than ever to know your farmer, and know your food.”
